The Old Goa police on Tuesday, conducted a security assessment of the Basilica of Bom Jesus in view of the recent bombings of churches in Sri Lanka.
The police were led by Old Goa PI Jivba Dalvi who opined that only a thorough and sincere check can prevent any untoward
incident.
PI Dalvi briefed about the security measures, dos and donts, precautions, checking of luggage, etc to the 23 ASI security guards, who have been deployed by the ASI department as the churches come under its
purview.
Dog squad services, bomb disposal squad were also involved in the training programme.
PI Dalvi also informed that round the clock armed guards are also posted at the Basilica as part of the security arrangements.
