Police recover knife in Ghurde murder case

PORVORIM

Saligao Police on Thursday recovered the knife used by the accused, Rajkumar Singh, to threaten the deceased Monika Ghurde on the fateful evening of October 5.

Speaking to The Goan, North Goa Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar mentioned that Saligao Police took the accused to Ghurde's flat at Jasmine Apartment, Sangolda.

“Singh showed police the place where he had kept the knife. Police later recovered the knife. He also showed police how he had gone to the terrace and also explained how he had managed to stay there for two days,” said SP Gaonkar.

Asked how Singh's entry into Jasmine Apartment had gone unnoticed by the security at the main gate of the apartment, SP Gaonkar admitted that the security guards were not been keeping a tab on all movements to and from the apartment.

“The accused had entered the complex through the main gate. The security guard at the entrance of the main gate only maintains records of cars, and not all visitors. Besides, no records are maintained of residents of the flats who enter and exit the premises,” said Gaonkar.
