Ahead of the May 7 Lok sabha election, thousands of polling officials and staff fanned out to the nook and corner of South Goa Lok Sabha constituency along with armed police to man the 800-odd polling stations.
Polling staff manning the polling stations in the eight Assembly segments in Salcete taluka collected the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and polling material from the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium Fatorda on Monday morning.
Hundreds of polling officials assembled at the Nehru stadium early Monday morning to collect the polling material from their respective centres at the stadium.
After collecting the material, they all headed to the waiting vehicles along with armed policemen before proceeding to their respective polling stations.
Senior election officials said the process went off smoothly with the polling officials and staff collecting the EVMs and material before heading to their respective destinations.
