Port town: Crowded in the morning, deserted by noon

VASCO
Crowded and packed in the morning and deserted by noon, the state curfew recieved a mixed response in Vasco on Sunday

As the shops opened in the morning, a lot pf people began crowding the vegetable markets and other grocery shops. While vendors had a tough time handling the rush as the police had to step in to control the crowd.

It was business as usual in vegetable and fruit markets as people began crowding. As the rush increased, the police began making announcements requesting the crowd not to resort to panic buying. The police also moved around in markets requesting people to maintain social distancing.

However by noon, many shops shut business for the day in adherence to guidelines issued by the government, while some shops were partially open. The team of police then began patrolling the port town requesting all the shops owners to close down except for pharmacies.

By late afternoon, police started a drive to deter people from moving out of their houses and by late evening the port town wore a deserted look. The roads were literally empty except for a couple of vehicles speeding by. Only pharmacies were open.

The policemen were seen at barricades placed along various locations to stop people from moving around in the city other than in case of an emergency.
