Porvorim police arrested three persons and seized items worth Rs 1.7 lakh after raiding a bungalow and busting a cricket betting racket at Salvador do Mundo on Tuesday.
Porvorim Police Inspector Rahul Parab said they received information from reliable source that some persons were operating a cricket betting racket at a bungalow in Salvador do Munro.
Accordingly, a police team raided the place and during a search, seized mobile phones, laptop, wifi router and other articles worth Rs 1.7 lakh from the accused, Khaljeet Singh (34), Nitesh Kumar (20) and Rahul Chowhan (27) all from West Bengal.
All three accused were arrested under Sections 3 & 4 of Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
The raiding team consisted of Police Inspector Rahul Parab, Police Sub Inspector Sitaram Malik, Police Sub Inspector Mandar Parab, Constables Utkarsh Dessai, Mahadev Naik, Siddhesh Naik, Tushar Raut and Nitesh Gaude.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim Viswesh Karpe and SP (North) Akshat Kaushal.
