Cash, goods worth Rs 1.3 lakh burgled from Vasco school

VASCO

Burglars targeted a renowned school in Vasco and made off with cash and goods valued at Rs 1.3 lakh.

According to Vasco Police, the burglary occurred at St Theresa School on Sunday, a day when the school remained closed.

“The perpetrators gained entry to the school’s administrative building by forcibly breaking the lock on the main gate and then accessed the principal’s office. Subsequently, they stole Rs 1 lakh in cash from the office. Realising the presence of CCTV cameras on the premises, the culprits also took four DVRs valued at Rs 30,000,” revealed a source.

“The incident was discovered on Monday morning when staff found the principal’s office in disarray upon opening the school. Vasco police were promptly notified, and a police team conducted an investigation. While the school typically employs three security guards, no watchman was present on holidays,” the source added.

PSI Rohan Nageshkar is leading further inquiries under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak, guided by Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
