Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has lauded the unemployed youth who have taken interest in farming activities, after having lost their jobs due to the Covid pandemic.
“The youth should not depend on government jobs and must stand on their own feet by returning to their traditional professions like farming, carpentry, painting, etc.,” said Khaunte.
He was speaking at Guirim after inaugurating five harvesting machines which were delivered to customers in the presence of Guirim Dy Sarpanch Shreya Naik, panch members and members of Green Field Farmers Club.
Khaunte advised farmers to keep aside their political differences and stay united which would help them get their grievances redressed.
“The agriculture department is offering subsidies to farmers on purchase of equipment required for farming and farmers should avail the benefit of these schemes,” said Khaunte.
