Work to fill potholes along the Goa-Belagavi highway via Chorla is expected to be completed within the next few days.
The road had been damaged at several places during the monsoon, making it difficult for motorists and commuters to travel along the dilapidated road.
The slow movement of traffic and breakdown of vehicles on account of the bad road had also led to several traffic jams along the route and many motorists had begun avoiding the route.
Work to repair the damaged road had been hampered due to continuous rains in the past few weeks.
When contacted, PWD Assistant Engineer Devendra Welingkar said repair work is in the final stage and would be completed in the next few days.
“Once the potholes are repaired, the road will be hotmixed and this will greatly benefit traffic along the route.”
“Efforts are being made by the PWD to ensure a smooth road between Sankhali and the Goa border. Motorists, commuters and locals have supported us in this task and we appeal to them cooperate with the PWD in future as well,” he added.
