Support to new market only after roadside vendors cleared: Market vendors

VASCO

Vasco Fish Market Vendors President Carridade Pereira said though the fish market vendors had agreed to have a new fish market, they would give a go-ahead to the GSUDA for the work only after MMC clears all roadside vendors.

"We are not ready for the proposal and we have not given a go-ahead, despite having a meeting. We will give our go ahead only after MMC clears all the roadside vendors.”

“There is no point having a market when people are selling fish all over the place. We are not against the market, but with so many people selling fish all over the city, we find it difficult to sell even one basket of fish.”

“We want the market, but MMC had assured and said they would begin clearing the roadside vendors. But nothing has been done as yet and people continue to sell fish by the roadside,” said Pereira.
