Power lines, crops damaged as heavy rain lashes Sattari

Heavy rains lashed many parts of Sattari taluka on Saturday night.  As a result, the cashew and mango crop have been severely affected. Power lines in many parts were damaged and electricity supply to many villages remained cut off. 

It is learnt that strong winds also lashed many parts of Sattari taluka on Saturday evening.  It has been reported that many houses have been damaged due to falling trees.  According to the information received from the Fire Brigade, houses in Guleli, Khotoda, Nagargaon, Keri ,Thane etc. were damaged by falling trees. 

 The power department was hit hard by the storm.  The power lines in many areas were damaged and this disrupted the power supply in villages.  It is learnt that many villages in Nagargaon Grampanchayat area have been affected.

Power lines in Nagargaon Panchayat area like Ambede, Brahmakarmali, Dhave Nagargaon etc. were severely damaged. The power supply in the area has been cut off.  Throughout Sunday, the power department was working on a war footing to restore power supply.

 A local Santosh Bhave's cattle herd at Dhave was dispersed due to strong winds. Bhave has demanded that the officers of Nagargaon Panchayat and Sattari taluka mamlatdar be apprised of the loss incurred.

 Meanwhile, cashew orchards have been hit hard due to heavy rains along with strong winds. Similarly, it was learnt that mango crop has been severely damaged.

Due to the continuous rains, the farmers in particular have been affected.  It has been raining intermittently in Sattari taluka for the last two months.
