Power Minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar has publicly batted for the Smart Meters, saying honest power consumers have nothing to worry about the new meters, while sounding a caution to consumers indulging in power thefts.
He said the Smart Meters will provide the facility to the consumer a la the pre-paid mobile cards wherein consumers will be able to go for cards for consumption of power.
Dhavalikar said the government would go ahead with the implementation of the Smart Meters without hurting the pockets of the power consumers.
“Smart meters have several advantages over conventional meters. The consumers will receive messages on the pending bills. Those who have raised doubts over the billing will get a clear idea of his power consumption. The Smart meters will also have the facility such as the telephone pay cards, wherein consumers can go for cards for the usage of power,” he said.
Saying that honest consumers will have nothing to worry about with the implementation of the Smart Meters, Dhavalikar said those who are stealing power may get the shock. For, he said the Smart Meters will clearly show whether the consumer is using three-phase power when he has obtained only single phase connection. Besides, he said the Smart Meters will clearly show the electric load applied and actually utilized by the consumers. Those who make timely payments will benefit and have nothing to worry about,” he said, adding “I cannot say of those who steal power.”
'Power OTS scheme may not be extended beyond Feb 27'

Making a fervent plea to the power consumers to avail of the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, Power Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar on Tuesday said the Power OTS scheme may not be extended beyond the February 27 deadline.
He said the OTS scheme will be placed and deliberated in the ensuing session of the Goa Legislative Assembly. “There will be no OTS power scheme in the future. At the most, the existing OTS scheme may be extended by 15 days, but people should keep in mind, there will be no more OTS scheme in the future,” he said while making a plea to the public, including businessmen, industrialists, and the consumers to avail the scheme and stop disconnection of power supply.
MGP's stand on Mhadei consistent since 70s: Sudin

Power Minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar on Tuesday said the MGP’s stand on the Mhadei issue is clear from day one, adding that he has no faith in those who have now come forward on the issue.
“The MGP’s stand on Mhadei has been consistent since the 70s when the party was in power. There’s no dilution of the party’s stand on Mhadei,” he asserted when the media sought to know the MGP’s position on river Mhadei.
Without taking any names, Dhavalikar, however, pointed out that he has no faith in those who have come forward to take the Mhadei issue.
