Power rebate scam: Long delay in trial takes toll on prosecution witnesses

MARGAO
The long delay in the trial of the two-decade old power rebate scam case allegedly involving former Power Minister Mauvin Godinho has started taking a toll on the prosecution witnesses.

Public Prosecutor, D Korgaonkar, representing the government in the power rebate scam, made a submission before Session Court Judge Irshad Agha stating that some of the witnesses cited in the case are not traceable by the investigating agency.

The prosecution had cited a number of witnesses for examination in the case, based on which the Court had issued notices. However, the investigating agency has informed that the witnesses are not traceable in the State. One of the witnesses, the public prosecutor, informed the Court is presently undergoing treatment in Bengaluru and will be back in the State only after a month.

The case will now come up for hearing in the matter on March 13 and April 12.
