Tenant verification must in South Goa before renting out accommodation

The South Goa District Magistrate Asvin Chandru has issued an order directing that no landlords/tenants/ owner/person of any house/ property in South Goa District shall let/sublet/rent out any accommodation to any person unless and until he/she has furnished the particulars of the tenants to the police in-charge of the concerned police station.

The order has been issued under section 144 of the CrPC based on a report received from the district police Chief, SP Abhishek Dhania.

The order has further directed  the owners of the houses, buildings, flats and other residential accommodation and the Owners/Management of all Hotels, Lodging & Boarding, Shacks, Private guest houses, Paying Guest accommodation of religious bodies, Temporary residential accommodation, etc, in South Goa District to verify the bonafides of the persons through their proof of identity such as Election Card, Driving Licence, Aadhaar Card, passport, etc. and make necessary arrangements for entry of details of Customers/Visitors in the PATHIK (Programm for Analysis of Traveller and Hotel Informatics) software prepared by Police.
