The High Court of Bombay at Goa has disposed of a petition filed by a commercial operator over the disconnection of electricity supply to two shops at Mapusa Residency after recording an assurance that power will not be disconnected again without following due process of law.
Sneha Salgaonkar had challenged the disconnection, claiming that the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) got the power supply cut without following the legal procedure. She had sought restoration of electricity and protection against any further disconnection.
During the hearing, the court was informed that Salgaonkar occupies two shops owned by GTDC and that eviction proceedings against her are already pending. She has also filed a civil suit challenging an eviction notice issued by GTDC. In that case, GTDC had assured the civil court that no eviction would take place without due process.
The Electricity Department informed the court that power to the shops had already been restored on June 26, 2026. GTDC also told the court that eviction proceedings have been initiated under the Goa Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act.
A Division Bench of Justices Valmiki Menezes and Hiten Venegavkar disposed of the petition, while making it clear that it had expressed no opinion on the pending civil suit or eviction proceedings.
