Prizes for New Monday contests given

BICHOLIM: Siddhi Kasar, Apurva Gawas and Mrunal Karpe won the first three prizes in rangoli and earthen lamp lighting competition organised by Samrat Club of Bicholim at Bhailipeth-Bicholim on the eve of New Monday celebration.

The consolation prizes were awarded to Deepa Chanekar, Mayuri Dicholkar and Prachi Chanekar. The contest was adjudged by Prasad Naik and Preeti Naik.

In all, 16 participants from Bicholim and surrounding areas took part.

Mayem Cong members to join BJPBICHOLIM: Former Congress Mayem ZP member Meghana Yende and her husband Congress activist Mahesh are likely to join the BJP. Speaking to reporters, Mahesh Yende said he has decided to join BJP after realizing that only a few people have dominated in the Congress party for the last many years. He said he would join BJP along with his supporters soon. Yende has been working for Mayem block Congress committee for the last 20 years.
