Probe reveals Nigerian, victim knew each other

Police investigation in the alleged rape case involving the Nigerian indicates that the accused and the victim woman were well acquainted and knew each other for some time. rnPolice sources disclosed that the accused Nigerian during custodial interrogation admitted that he knew the victim, and that, they had been meeting each other for some time.

The accused has further disclosed that both he and the woman had been together in a restaurant some days back, before the alleged rape took place.  
Mapusa police are now trying to gather CCTV footage of the restaurant, where both the accused and the victim woman met, to corroborate the statement.   
Meanwhile, the medical report of the victim woman has come positive.  
The medical report has confirmed that there was sexual intercourse. The report also mentions that there was an external injury, Mapusa police said.  
“The woman has suffered a bruise below the right side of her shoulder,” a source at Mapusa police revealed.  
On Tuesday, Mapusa police had informed that the accused Nigerian was earlier arrested at least on two occasions for different offences in the State.
