Process to add, delete, shift names in electoral roll begins in Mormugao

VASCO
Mormugao Deputy Collector Sachin Desai on Wednesday said the process to add, delete and shift names of people in the electoral roll had begun in Mormugao taluka.

He was interacting with reporters during a voter awareness programme in the Deputy Collector's office.

"We are doing the summary revisions and the process to work on claims and objections have begun. We wanted to create voter awareness so that it reaches maximum people because the process to add, delete or shift names for the electoral roll has begun and people can apply for the same," said Desai.

Desai said forms are available with an option for people to apply online so that they need not rush to the office amid the Covid pandemic.

"The BLOs can later verify application forms and take necessary action on the request. Forms are also available offline, but we recommend the online application so that there is no rush in offices. If anyone has difficulty in applying online, we can help them," said Desai.

Desai said people could come to their office and seek the help of staff to file online applications.

"It is not that we don't want to entertain people in our office. Our staff is always available to help people and apply online and in case there are other issues, we can fill the form offline.”

“Summary revisions have begun now and will be completed by January 5, 2021, and this period is to file claims and objections. The new roll may be considered for the upcoming elections," said Desai.
