According to the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), out of the total turnover of Rs 939.28 crore, Rs 652.76 crore (69 per cent) is of two PSUs - Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) and Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL). However, the other 12 PSUs contributed a turnover of Rs 286.52 crore.
Additionally, there were two non-working PSUs - Goa Auto Accessories Limited and Goa Information Technology Development Corporation.
State Government's investment in all 16 PSUs was Rs 707.51 crore, of which Rs 701.92 crore (99.21 per cent) was in the 14 working PSUs while Rs 5.59 crore (0.79 per cent) was in the non-working PSUs. However, this investment has grown by over 55 per cent from Rs 454.51 crore in 2011-12 to Rs 707.51 crore in 2015-16.
Nonetheless, the profit of working PSUs has increased significantly in 2015-16. Of the 14 working PSUs, 10 PSUs earned profit of Rs 54.25 crore, while four PSUs incurred losses of Rs 1.40 crore. The two non-working PSUs - GAAL incurred loss of Rs 0.78 crore while GITDC has not submitted its accounts since inception. EDC was the major contributor of profits of Rs 36.11 crore, followed by GSIDC
with Rs 7.13 crore and KTCL with Rs 5.20 crore.
Profit of working PSUs goes up significantly
Fourteen public sector undertakings (PSUs) registered a turnover of Rs 939.28 crore, equalling 1.54 per cent of State's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
