A one-day training programme on 'Managemental practices adopted in rearing of backyard poultry' was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa. 15 farmers from various places of Goa participated in the programme. Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar was the training coordinator and he focused on the importance and scope of backyard poultry varieties like Srinidhi, Grampriya and Vanaraja birds.
Dr RS Rajkumar gave details of managemental practices adopted in rearing of backyard poultry and Dr Chetankumar gave a lecture on regular health care management of backyard poultry.
Dr EB Chakurkar advised farmers to start small scale backyard poultry units to fulfill the demand of household eggs and meat, while Chidanand Prabhu advised farmers to include backyard poultry component as one of the addition to integrated farming system.
