: A major fire gutted a portion of a residential house at Dandeavaddo, Chinchinim village on Tuesday noon, destroying property over Rs 7 lakh.
As the cause of the fire remains unknown, the fire services has written to the police and the fire services to ascertain the exact cause behind the fire.
The fire fighting operation was hampered after the fire tender could not make it to the house owing to the narrow road. The fire personnel requisitioned another tender, in the process losing precious time. In the meantime, local residents joined in the fire fighting operations, but much damage was already caused to one half of the house.
Fire services informed that most of the household and consumer durables in the house were destroyed on the inferno. A TV set, refrigerator, geyser, cupboards, fans, clothes, utensils, besides the roof tiles and rafters were destroyed in the fire.
