VALPOI
The protection wall and a portion of the approach road have partially collapsed at the Gawane Bridge in Khotoda-Sattari, posing a serious threat to motorists and pedestrians travelling on the bridge between Valpoi and Mollem.
Heavy traffic has now been prohibited but two-wheelers and small four-wheelers are allowed to ply on the Gawane Bridge. Locals fear that if the protection wall collapses further, authorities may completely close the Valpoi-Mollem road via the Gawane Bridge.
According to locals, continuous rains in Sattari for the last four days led to the collapse of the protection wall and a portion of the approach road on Monday.
Locals have requested authorities to stop all traffic from moving over the damaged area or else, it could cause further damage to the road.
The Gawane Bridge provides access to motorists and commuters travelling between Valpoi city and Malpan, Mollem, Collem, Dharbandora.
