Public Undertaking Committee meets, one dept discussed

PANAJI

The Public Undertaking Committee (PUC) met on Monday to examine CAG report of almost seven years back on the Industries Department.

The PUC chaired by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has been examining observations from 2016-17 of this one department as the Committee has so far held just a few meetings.

Other departments are yet to be taken up for scrutiny by the PUC.

Alemao refused to divulge details of the meeting to the media but maintained that there is a long pending backlog. “Report will soon be prepared,” he said.

RG MLA Viresh Borkar also admitted to pending backlog and the department discussed.

PAC and PUC under Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and Alemao respectively were constituted by the Speaker of Goa Assembly around 15 months back.

Both these important committees are yet to prepare a Draft Report.

Both committees began their meetings from September 2023 after a gap of eight months.

Alemao had last month pointed fingers at other committees, claiming these are defunct while stating that the PAC and PUC are constitutionally mandated for two years with one more year to submit report.
