RGP leader Ajay Kholkar has accused the PWD of encroaching into private property and building a compound wall around the water tank at Chimbel.
Kholkar, who is a tenant of the property, has pointed out that the traditional wall has been demolished by the contractor employed for building the compound wall, and the new compound wall has been built by encroaching in the tenanted property.
As it was a second Saturday, Kholkar emailed the complaint to the Chimbel panchayat with copies to Tiswadi BDO and Director of Panchayats seeking action under section 66 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.
In his plaint, Kholkar has prayed that a stop-work order be immediately issued and site inspection conducted at the earliest, followed by demolition of the compound wall as per the provisions of GPR Act.
Meanwhile, Kholkar has questioned whether the work has been undertaken by the PWD by following the legal process through tender.
“No board has been displayed at the site and the labourer present at the site could only say that the work is undertaken at the behest of the PWD,” Kholkar stated.
When contacted by The Goan, St Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes said the work is being undertaken by the PWD but informed that he is unaware whether any private property is being encroached.
