The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has instructed the PWD to repair the potholed roads in the municipality before Ganesh Chaturthi.

Mindful of the bad roads in Mapusa city and responding to directives of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, MMC Chairperson Priya Mishal chaired a joint meeting which was attended by officials from the PWD, and Sewerage.

It was pointed out that roads across the municipality, especially at Ganeshpuri, Ansabhat, Vitthalwadi, Angad, Gavsawada, Bazarpet, Morod, Khorlim, Cunchelim, Shelpe, and Karaswada, were filled with potholes. This has made it difficult for motorists, commuters, cyclists and pedestrians.

The officials were informed that Angod and Gausawadda areas were the most affected as roads in these areas were dug for three major works, underground power lines, sewage system and water pipes.

Mishal said the chief minister had given instructions to make the roads in Mapusa suitable for vehicles.

“We have instructed the PWD to complete the repair work and make the roads suitable for traffic before Ganesh Chaturthi,” said Mishal.
