Stating that he has spoken to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over the Mandur tragedy which claimed the lives of an elderly woman and her son, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar informed that the CM has assured that the PWD would rebuild the house.

Speaking exclusively to The Goan, MLA Borkar said, “I spoke to CM Sawant and he informed me to submit all details to the Principal Chief Engineer of PWD, who has been directed to rebuild the house of the family.”

When questioned about the time-frame to rebuild the house, Borkar informed that he cannot give any timeline as the formalities need to be completed first.

“I spoke to the PCE who asked to me to submit the documents of the house, after which the process of rebuilding the house would be put into motion,” Borkar assured.

When questioned on the need to provide immediate relief to the family members of the deceased who are going through a tough time financially, Borkar said compensation would be paid under the Disaster Management as well as under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

“As immediate relief, funds under Disaster Management and CM’s Relief Fund would be provided,” Borkar stated.
