Qawwali Jugalbandi at Rumdamol

MARGAO: Deputy Speaker Vishnu Surya Wagh will attend the Qawwali Jugalbandi organised by ASC Social & Cultural Society, in association with the department of Art and Culture, at Rumdamol football ground, Housing Board, Navelim on January 16, at 8 pm.The Jugalbandi will feature Qawwal Murad Atish from Belgaum against Qawwala Rubi Taj from Nagpur.

While Wagh will be the chief guest, Velim MLA Benjamin Silva will be the guest of honour while Labour and Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado will preside. The special invitees include Ravindra Bhavan chairman Damu Naik, ZP member Ulhas Tuenkar and AIM Higher Secondary chairman Mohammad Iqbal.

ASC secretary Shaikh Javed said it is for the first time that such a State-level programme is being organised. “It is for all the people, for brotherhood and unity,” he added.

The Coconut Farmers Association of Goa has hailed the government's decision of withdrawing the coconut tree from the Tree Act of the Forest Department.
