After a night-long search operation by the fire services, which wound up at around 10.30 last night, naval divers were requisitioned on early Tuesday morning, but in vain.
Sources said the naval divers, who were pressed into service at dawn on Tuesday, carried out a search operation till 11 pm.
The search operation, however, continued thereafter as firemen scanned the water body using an inflated boat with a camera facility. The operation was stopped at around 8 pm on Tuesday and will resume on Wednesday morning.
Fire Officer Gill de Souza said that naval divers were requisitioned on early Tuesday morning in a bid to find out the missing lad, but in vain. “We have continued with the operation till 8 pm and will resume again on Wednesday morning,”
he added.
Gill pointed out that the though the incident is believed to have occurred at around 4 pm, the Margao fire brigade had received a call only at 7.05 pm. “Upon receiving information at around 7.05, the firemen immediately headed to the incident site. As far as the cameras are concerned, the fire services have kept a camera at the disposal of the Curchorem fire station, which has been sent for repairs,” he said.
