Another month has passed but the long-delayed tender of the SGPDA wholesale fish market sopo fee collection contractor is yet to take place till date.
In the absence of a full-fledged sopo fee contractor, the SGPDA is collecting the sopo fees departmentally, around Rs 12 lakh a month on an average. Questions are raised in wholesale fish market circles is the reason behind the inordinate delay by the PDA to tender the sopo fee collection tender.
Interestingly, ever time the media confronts SGPDA Chairman, MLA Krishna Salkar to shed light on the sopo fee collection tender, apt comes a reply that the tender will be floated soon.
When the media questioned the PDA Chairman on Tuesday over the delay in floating the sopo fee collection tender, he assured that the tender will be floated within the next seven days.
He further attributed the delay in commissioning the re-developed wholesale fish market to the delay in fixing the electric issues in the market. ‘We have also finalised the tender and we now expect to float the tender in the next seven days”, Salkar said.
On the implementation of the cold storage unit in the re-developed wholesale fish market, Salkar said the cold storage unit was mooted under the centrally funded scheme as per the vision of PM Narendra Modi. “We will take the stakeholders into confidence before implementing the cold storage unit proposal”, he added.
