SGPDA chief calls meeting of fishermen, sopo contractor to solve sopo fee issue

South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) Chairman Krishna Daji Salkar has called for a meeting between agitated Goan fishermen and the sopo contractor to resolve the issue of sopo fees in the wholesale fish market.

Salkar told the media in the evening that whatever differences that have cropped up between the fishermen and the contractor would be resolved face to face on April 10. “We have displayed the sopo fee rates in the wholesale fish market. The PDA has not effected any hike in the rates. The issue raised by the Goan fishermen will be resolved at the April 10 meeting”, he added.
