MARGAO
Is the plant to treat sewage water generated at the state-of-the-art toilet block at the Colva beach functioning? was the question that took centre stage during the inspection at the shore called by the Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas.
The MLA and others had a close look at the toilet block to ascertain whether the authorities have put a system in place to treat the sewage water, throwing up a further question of how is the waste generated at the toilet block handled and disposed of.
After the inspection, Venzy said it is apparent that the wastewater generated at the block seemed not functioning. He also had a close look at the water that has accumulated near the mouth of the Colva creek to find out whether the sewage water is discharged in the open.
