Senior leader of the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) Adv Radharao Gracias on Tuesday gave a call to the people of South Goa to defeat the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the April 23 Lok Sabha election.

The UGDP leader took the platform of the Congress at a public meeting at Betalbatim on Tuesday evening to make an appeal to the people to defeat the BJP in the election, saying that only the Congress and not the Aam Aadmi Party will be in a position to defeat the BJP. “I have always opposed the Congress and will do so in the future as well. But, I have come to address the meeting to send a message to the people to unite and defeat the BJP and Prime Minister Modi,” he said. Radharao, who was found seated in the audience took the platform to address the people before leaving the venue.

He said his assessment reveals that the AAP will not be in a position to defeat the BJP for the South Goa seat as he explained the various sins of omission and commission of the Narendra Modi government in the last five years and the threat posed to the country if Modi returns back to power.

The meeting was also addressed by Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa, who made an appeal to the people of Nuvem constituency to unite and defeat the BJP in the ensuing election. The MLA told the people that party candidate Francisco Sardinha’s candidature has been receiving tremendous response from Nuvem and outside, saying that the Congress will regain the South Goa seat in the coming election.

Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha, former minister Digambar Kamat, Congress district president Joe Dias, Zilla Panchayat member Nelly Rodrigues, Mahila Congress chief Pratima Coutinho and others were seated on the dais.
