Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday said the Railways had come forward to offer support in a roadwork pending for 20 years in Dabolim.
Speaking to reporters during the launch of the project, Godinho said the road at Dabolim was pending for 20 years as the railway had not issuing permissions.
“Normally, the Railways does not allow development in areas touching their properties, but when Piyush Goel was the union railway minister, he had assured me that all issues would be resolved and this is the start.”
“This road will be developed like a road ring and benefit people. We will also witness work on the second New Vaddem bridge connecting Shantinagar and New Vaddem. We needed a second bridge because the existing one is very narrow and gets congested with traffic during peak hours.
“There are two houses and I have assured the owners that they will be rehabilitated in the Housing Board tenements," Godinho added.
Rebuke to opposition
Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Pope Francis and even inviting him to India was a rebuke to the opposition who had been making various allegations against the BJP.
"This is a slap to those people who were spreading propaganda that the BJP was anti-minority. I would always question them and ask them to explain how 8 minority legislators from the 10-member group of MLAs had joined us and how we have 15 of the 27 BJP MLAs from the minority community,” said Godinho.
Insisting that BJP had not discriminated against the minority community, Godinho said there were some who had claimed that Modi was anti-minority and would never meet the Pope or invite him to India.”
"Modi not only met Pope Francis, but they had an interaction for over an hour and worked on resolving many global issues. If this was not enough, Modi invited Pope Francis to India and the invitation was accepted. This shows that the BJP is not against the minority and we are united for development, immaterial of caste or creed," said Godinho.
