Rainfall surpasses seasonal average; surplus of 53.6%

Goa has received 3,443.1mm of seasonal rainfall so far, surpassing the normal 2,241.4mm for this period and exceeding the seasonal average of 2,976mm “ from June 1 to September 30. With this, the State has recorded a 53.6 per cent surplus in rainfall.

On Friday, the State saw a brief respite as most of the day remained dry, except for heavy rains in the morning. Dabolim recorded the highest rainfall at 88.2mm in the last 24 hours until 8:30 am whereas moderate rainfall was recorded in Mapusa, (58.3mm), Ela (Old Goa) (46.0mm), Panaji (35.0mm), Margao (32.2mm), Sanquelim (28.4mm), Mormugao (27.4mm), Quepem (25.0mm), Canacona (23.6mm), and Sanguem (21.1mm). Light rainfall was reported in Ponda (10.8mm) and Sanguem (9.2mm).

The average rainfall in Goa on Friday was 33.9mm, slightly above the normal average of 32.8mm.
