Parts of Panaji were ‘submerged’ after rains continued to lash the state recording an excess of 307 mm of rainfall.
Residents of Camrabhat, Taleigao, Campal and 18th June Road were waterlogged making it difficult for commuters to travel.
In St Inez, Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) workers swung into action after the creek crossed its normal level, with water entering the nearby roads. Workers were seen gathering garbage from the creek, and transported in the trucks.
Panjai, in the past 24 hours, recorded 65 mm of rainfall with a seasonal total of 1017 mm, registering an excess of 307 mm rainfall.
The state received a total of 112.9 mm rainfall with a seasonal total of 1130.3 mm since beginning of June.
A surplus of 279.9 mm was recorded as of Wednesday morning. Temperatures recorded in the past 24 hours ranged from a maximum of 27.3 degree Celsius and a minimum of 23.5 degree Celsius.
A weather warning has been issued stating “heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at many places over Goa at a few places on June 30 and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places on July 1 and 2.”
