A bridge got flooded in Keri, while a house collapsed at Paikul as heavy rains have struck Sattari taluka since the last four days.
The bridge between Ravana and Kelawade in Keri were submerged on Thursday afternoon for almost two hours, paralysing traffic along the route and cutting off contact between Keri and Ravana, Kelawade areas. Traffic resumed only when the water level receded.
At Paikul in Guleli-Sattari, the mud house of Pundalik Bhiso Naik collapsed following heavy rains and the family has been rendered homeless.
Minor landslides were reported in many places, while power supply was disrupted in many parts of Sattari.
Water levels at the various rivers in Sattari rose sharply, causing alarm among those residing along the river banks.
According to information, heavy rains in the hilly areas of Karnataka region have led to a sharp rise in water levels at the Mhadei, Ragada and Valvanti rivers.
The Valpoi Mamlatdar’s Office is closely monitoring the situation and a 24-hour Control Room 24 is fully operational. The Mamletdar office has requested people to contact the Control Room in case of any untoward incident.
