Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane has directed the Forest department to process the file for the road work on Karmal Ghat on top priority, following a mishap which claimed the life of a youth on Monday.
“Directions have been given to the DCF South to process the file for the road work on Karmal Ghat on top priority. Along with the forest, we must also ensure the safety of the people,” stated Rane in a tweet on Friday night.
“The work has been pursued by Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar; the road is an accident-prone area; the lives of the people cannot be compromised. Hence, strict directions have been issued to the Forest department that there will be no work order for stopping the work and that PWD must be allowed to carry out the work on a fast track.”
“The Forest department will provide total support for this work; directions have been issued, and the work will continue.”
The Forest department had been accused of stopping the road work along the treacherous curve at the Karmal Ghat which had been started by the contractor earlier this week, as clearances had not been obtained for the work.
