Ravi Naik on Sunday evening addressed about 100 workers from Avantinagar-Usgao in a corner- meeting. Roy Naik, Ritesh Naik (elder son of Ravi), Rayu Naik, local Pancha Rekha Velingkar, Swathi Kerkar, Ashok Naik, Ritesh Naik and others were present.
It may be recalled that in June, AICC general secretary and Goa incharge A Chellakumar had hinted that Roy Naik's name was almost finalised to fight against BJP candidate Vishwajeet Rane in the by-election for Valpoi constituency.
Sources informed that Ravi Naik has very much stressed on Usgao area, which was his stronghold when the area was in Ponda constituency.
On Sunday, Naik said the Usgao area was sidelined by Vishwajeet Rane. "Usgao lacked development in the last 10 years, after it was included in Valpoi from Ponda constituency. Whatever development you see here was done by me," Naik said.
"If Usgao people want development, then they should vote for the Congress candidate. Don't sell the votes if some try to lure you, vote for development," said Naik.
Roy Naik appealed to the people of Usgao to support him to make overall progress and development. "I assure you all the development and it will be done by taking you all into confidence," Naik said.
