Redeveloped Bicholim KTC bus stand inaugurated by CM

BICHOLIM

The redeveloped KTC bus stand at Bicholim,built at a cost of Rs 16.43 crore, was inaugurated by Chief Minister PramodSawant on Tuesday.

The facility features separate pedestrian andvehicular movement, barrier-free access, CCTV surveillance, parking and publicconveniences. It has eight alighting and departing bus bays, four waiting bays,11 shops, a café and ATM space, besides dedicated parking areas for taxis,autorickshaws, two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

The facility also includes upgraded amenitiesfor transport personnel, including RTO offices, the Office of the AssistantDirector of Transport, meeting and training rooms and dedicated restrooms.

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said, “Theredevelopment of the KTC Bus Stand at Bicholim is an important step towardsproviding people with safer, smoother and more convenient public transportinfrastructure. Such people-centric projects improve everyday life andstrengthen our journey towards a Viksit Goa.”

The project was executed by the Goa StateInfrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for the Directorate ofTransport.

Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, CalanguteMLA and GSIDC chairman Michael Lobo, Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye, Mayem MLAPremendra Shet and Navelim MLA and Kadamba Transport Corporation chairman UlhasTuenkar were among those present.
