Refurbished Margao court to reopen on April 10

Come Monday and courts will resume functioning from the Margao Civil and Criminal court heritage building once again.

After the PWD completed the repairs and renovation of the court building last month and handed over the heritage structure to the court authorities, it has been finally decided to hold regular sittings of the courts in the old building from April 10.

Regular functioning of the courts from the heritage Margao civil and criminal court building was disrupted during the last monsoons due to the seepage of rainwater.

After the city-based lawyers raised a banner of protest, the courts were temporarily shifted to the district court building to facilitate the PWD, building division to carry out the repairs and renovation of the heritage building.

The PWD has completed the work of repairs and renovation of the heritage structure at a cost of Rs 65-odd lakh, including the work of replacement of the roof, rafters and internal painting of the heritage structure.

A notice put up at the court building has informed advocates as well as the litigants and the public, in general, to take note that regular sitting of some of the courts in view of shifting in Old Building and Annexe Building with effect from Monday, April 10.
