A family in Guirim had a miraculous escape when a national permit truck rammed into their roadside house early Tuesday morning.
The truck, which was proceeding from Mapusa to Panaji after reaching near the Guirim chapel on the State highway, veered to the left and rammed straight into the house.
The sidewall, tiles and wooden rafters were brought down with the impact but the inmates escaped without any injuries.
The driver was reportedly sleeping and the cleaner was on the wheel when the accident happened.
Soon after the mishap, the driver and the cleaner were trying to make good their escape but some locals managed to capture them and later handed them over to police.
The house belongs to one Shashikant Naik from Guirim. Both the driver and the cleaner were arrested by police. Mapusa Police are investigating the incident.
