MARGAO
Residents of Curtorim have expressed grave concern over the deplorable condition of the road leading to Grande Rumbordem in the village.
Social activist, Engr Roque Mascarenhas has pointed out that the road has become unmotorable and unsafe due to damages caused by underground cabling works and frequent water line breakages. “Despite its importance as a key route for residents, the road remains in a hazardous state, causing inconvenience and leading to several accidents,” he said.
With Christmas festivities around the corner, he said the residents urge the authorities to take immediate action to repair the road and address the recurring water line issues. Pedestrians, including children and the elderly, are finding it difficult to use this stretch safely, he said.
Roque further pointed out that a formal request has been made to the Curtorim panchayat and the Public Works Department (PWD), Margao, for urgent intervention. Residents are hopeful that the authorities will act swiftly to restore the road and ensure the safety of the public during this festive season, he said.
Roque has called upon the residents of Curtorim and the stakeholders to take notice of this issue and put pressure on the concerned departments to expedite the repairs. The safety and well-being of the public must not be compromised, he added.
