A 35-year-old man from Maharashtra has been detained by the Mapusa Police on charges of allegedly stabbing a hotel receptionist on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred at Mayura Hotel in Morod-Mapusa.
The victim, Sandesh Padloskar, who worked as a receptionist at the hotel, was attacked multiple times with a knife by the accused, identified as Sohanand Kosabe, a resident of Changad, Maharashtra.
According to police sources, Kosabe had checked into the hotel earlier in the day with a female companion. A dispute reportedly arose between the two, during which Kosabe allegedly threatened to kill her.
The woman sought help from the hotel staff, who acted swiftly to ensure her safety by hiding her.
Moments later, Kosabe approached the reception desk and demanded to know the woman’s whereabouts. When Padloskar refused to disclose any information, Kosabe attacked him with a knife.
The receptionist sustained severe injuries to his stomach, face, and neck. He was rushed to Goa Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Mapusa Police have detained Kosabe and are questioning him about the incident. An arrest is expected to be formally made later in the night. Further investigation is underway.
