Locals were upset after drain water entered the St Francis Xavier Cross at Chinchwada-Chimbel during the monsoons.
Highlighting the issue to The Goan, a devotee, Ana Gracias, informed that it’s been four years since water from the drain overflows and enters the St Francis Xavier Cross, during the rainy season.
“We have highlighted the issue at various forums, including the panchayat. However, the issue has remained unsolved,” said Gracias.
“The overflowing rainwater from the drain enters the holy precincts as the drain, in which the water used to flow earlier, has been blocked. There is an urgent need to unblock the drain so that the rainwater flows through the culvert underneath the Cross.”
