PERNEM
Locals are upset over water shortage in different parts of Korgao village in Pernem in the last six days, women in the area complained that they have had to run from pillar to post to get adequate water.
“Despite our pleas, local water department officers have not addressed the issue. The officers tell us that there is some leakage somewhere, due to which the water supply may be hampered. In some of the areas, water is supplied at 3 am and we have to remain awake to fill water. The government should listen to our woes and regularise water supply in our area,” complained a woman.
Many were critical of local MLA Pravin Arlekar and complained that he has not taken the issue seriously.
“When Babu Ajgaonkar was the MLA of Pernem, all waddas in the village got regular water supply. Why should there be water scarcity now? Why has local MLA Pravin Arlekar not visited the area even once,” questioned another woman.
At present, water is being supplied by tankers, but those who do not have barrels are unable to store water.
