Former Aquem Baixo sarpanch Avinash Sardesai on Monday said that he along with the panchas took a resolution during a meeting not to grant occupancy to the extended portion of the builder's premises until the problem of the road is solved.
Referring to the allegations that he had issued the occupancy certificate to the builder, Sardesai said the resolution was passed to safeguard the interests of the panchayat and its residents.
He, however, said the builder subsequently appealed against this resolution and pursued legal action.
Sardesai further said the BDO duly issued a memorandum to the Secretary, directing the issuance of the occupancy certificate to the builder at the earliest. He said the Occupancy Certificate was issued by the Secretary of the panchayat and not by him.
