MAPUSA
Just days after Mapusa went without water due to maintenance shutdown, the Public Works Department (PWD) on Monday announced two day restricted water supply for parts of Bardez and Bicholim taluka due to maintenance work taken up at the Assonora water treatment plant.
Areas in Aldona and Tivim are expected to be affected the most while other parts of Bardez are expected to get relatively normal supply.
The restricted water supply is for May 10 and 11.
According to a PWD official, the department will be taking up electrical maintenance work at the 12 mld water treatment plant in Assonora which is expected to be completed within two days.
“Work on the plant has already started and will be completed by Tuesday. Aldona and Tivim areas will be affected the most while other areas are not expected to face much of a problem,” said Shambu Malvankar, Executive Engineer PWD.
Last week most areas of Mapusa had to go without water for almost four days when similar maintenance work was taken up on the 50 mld treatment plant.
