Water supply from the Selaulim water pipeline to the talukas of Quepem, Salcete and Mormugao will be restricted on Friday as the PWD has arranged a shut down of the 1400-mm dia pipeline for repairs.
Executive Engineer, Srikant Gaonkar, informed that the old 160-MLD line will go for repairs at Cotarli-Sanguem and the work is expected to be complete only in the evening.
Given that it takes around eight hours for the water to reach Margao after the resumption of pumping at the Selaulim plant, he appealed to the customers to bear with the restricted water supply.
Gaonkar, however, said the new 100-MLD Selaulim line will function as normal, supplying water to the talukas, but the people will get restricted supply as the new line will not be able to cater to the water requirements of the three talukas.
