Stating that the State government is seized of the entire issue of mining, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said the government would surely do something to work out a solution at the earliest.
“While I would not like to comment on the Supreme Court’s decision, it would have been ideal if time was permitted till May 31, so that all formalities could be completed.”
“My stand on mining operations is very clear. Without waiting, we have to move forward to start mining operations. Resuming mining operations immediately should be the mantra.”
“What is most important is that mining operations should start or else Goa’s economy and revenue will be affected, leading to huge unemployment,” said Godinho.
“Several stakeholders from Mormugao taluka have met me and I feel Vasco will come to a standstill if mining activity stops.”
“The Supreme Court directions have come as a serious jolt to the people of Goa and this should not be allowed. The State government is seized of the entire problem and we will try to arrive at some solution at the earliest,” assured Godinho.
