Asserting that the coalition government is stable and strong under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, PWD Minister and MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar has exuded confidence that the government will complete its term, while leaving the ball in the court of the people of Goa to decide on the performance of the government in the 2021 Assembly election.
He said the Congress is not only sending feelers on the formation of an alternate government, but leaders of the Opposition have been calling on him and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai with their problems.
When the media asked him how stable is the coalition government, Sudin shot back “very well. We are together. We will complete the term under Parrikar leadership. We have some 5-6 ministers, who are even capable to handle the work of other portfolios in the absence of some ministers,” he told the media in the presence of TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai in the South Collectorate on Thursday.
“The Congress leaders have been meeting us just to resolve their problem. Let us keep politics aside and concentrate on work. We have worked out certain plans for Margao and Salcete in generation. Let us complete the works and go for the election,” he said, saying ‘let the people decide their fate in 2021’.
On complaints that administration has been hampered due to the absence of the Chief Minister and other ministers as was also claimed by the TCP Minister, Sudin said there’s only a delay in taking policy decisions. “Only in case of policy decisions, which need to be taken by the Chief Minister, there’s some delay. Otherwise, the administration continues as usual. We have ministers and the Chief Secretary, who is the administrative head. I do not think the administration is hampered in any way,”
Sudin said.
While saying that people with problems are free to approach the ministers, Sudin said around 5-6 ministers in the Parrikar cabinet are capable of handling issues of other departments as well. “Only if the people feel that their problems are not resolved, they are free to go to the media,” he added.
