A section of shareholders of the much-maligned Mapusa Urban Coop Bank said efforts would be made to soon fix an appointment with the Chief Minister to find a way out of the current mess.
The shareholders led by Mapusa Councillor Rajsingh Rane have also appealed to all the other shareholders and sympathisers of the bank to attend a meeting on Saturday to discuss the future course of action.
“We call upon all shareholders and sympathizers to attend the meeting arranged at Nandadeep, head office, on September 8 at 4 pm,” said Rane.
Rane along with other shareholders, Paresh Raikar, Kiran Shirodkar, Yashwant Gawandalkar and Abay Gawandalkar were addressing a news conference in Mapusa.
He said the main aim of the meeting was to draw a roadmap and decided the future course of action to revive the prospects of the bank.
“The BoD are also shareholders. So if they want, they can definitely attend the meeting,” Rane said to a question from the media.
Businessman and shareholder, Paresh Raikar said that their focus will be to find a solution to bring the bank out of the current situation.
“We need to save the bank and the interest of the customers, depositors and the staff. We will have to come together and offer ways to achieve our mission to revive the prospects of the bank,” Raikar said.
Rane said that many shareholders and other stakeholders of the bank have started calling them up and inquiring the status of the bank.
“Although we are not responsible for the current mess, we need to find ways to put it back on rails. We will definitely fix a meeting with the CM and meet him to discuss the way forward,” Rane said.
